General Bearing - Ball and Roller Bearings - Roller Bearings
Needle bearings
Needle bearings have cylindrical rollers with a high length to diameter ratio. These rollers are retained in the outer ring as a non-separable assembly. Needle roller bearings combine high radial load capacity with minimum radial space requirements, however they cannot resist thrust . Two basic variations of roller bearings, full complement and caged needle bearings exist. Caged needle bearings, which are designed with retainers, have lower load capacities than full-complement bearings. Needle bearings are used in farm and construction equipment, automotive transmissions, small appliance and tool motors, alternators and aircraft controls.
