General Bearing - Ball and Roller Bearings - Angular Contact
Single Row Angular Contact Ball Bearing
Angular contact bearings are single row ball bearings with altered internal geometry and clearances, permitting the balls to contact the raceways at a predetermined contact angle. Increasing the contact angle increases the thrust capacity and axial rigidity of the bearings. However, high contact angles reduce the radial capacity, radial rigidity and can reduce the limiting speed of the bearing due to an increase in friction. Single row angular contact bearings are capable of resisting thrust from only one direction and are particularly suited to applications involving applied thrust loads having the same magnitude as applied radial load, and to applications requiring high axial and radial rigidity.
